Decimo compleanno per il Florence Queer Festival, la rassegna di cinema, arte, teatro e letteratura a tematica LGBTI diretto da Bruno Casini e Roberta Vannucci.
Per l’edizione 2012 saranno presentati, tra gli altri, l’anteprima europea di Out Loud di Samer Daboul, ambientato nel Libano contemporaneo dove le nuove generazioni si battono contro gli antichi tabù e retaggi culturali, in nome dell’uguaglianza; Matthew Bourne’s Swan Lake 3D, di Ross MacGibbon, la trasposizione del famoso balletto Il lago dei cigni, che il celebre coreografo inglese Matthew Bourne reinterpreta con un corpo di ballo tutto al maschile; il documentario Jobriath A.D. di Kieran Turner sulla sfortunata carriera di Jobriath, prima rock star a dichiararsi pubblicamente gay; l’ironico dramma familiare The perfect family, di Anne Renton, interpretato da Kathleen Turner e Richard Chamberlain.
In questa edizione ci sarà spazio anche per i classici, con una selezione di film cult sul mondo queer, e verrà inoltre presentata, al Centro per l’Arte Contemporanea Luigi Pecci, la mostra fotografica, della sudafricana Zanele Muholi, in collaborazione con il Some Prefer Cake Festival di Bologna.

Tenth anniversary for the Florence Queer Festival of LGBTI cinema, art, theatre, and literature directed by Bruno Casini and Roberta Vannucci. Among other things, the 2012 edition will be presenting the European preview of Out Loud by Samer Daboul, set in modern- day Lebanon where the new generations battle against ancient taboos and cultural hand-me-downs in the name of equality; Matthew Bourne’s Swan Lake 3D, by Ross MacGibbon, a transposition of the famous ballet Swan Lake reinterpreted by the celebrated English choreographer Matthew Bourne with an all-male corps de ballet; Kienan Turner’s documentary Jobriath A.D. on the ill-fated career of Jobriath, the first openly gay rock star; the ironic family drama entitled The Perfect Family, directed by Anne Renton and starring Kathleen Turner and Richard Chamberlain.
This year’s festival will also be taking a look at the classics, with a selection of cult films on the LGBTI world and the Italian debut of an exhibition of the works of South African photographer Zanele Muholi in collaboration with the Some Prefer Cake Festival of Bologna.
