La madre ubriacona di Trampette le consiglia di portare la sua tromba al banco dei pegni per pagare l’affitto. Mentre si reca al banco dei pegni Trampette si imbatte in una banda di musicisti di strada, ruba il portafoglio a Big Shot e si innamora di una trovatella.

Sono entrambe squattrinate e senza un posto dove stare così che Trampette si traveste dal peggior criminale del mondo per derubare la gente. Ma la sua coscienza ha la meglio e quando la trovatella la lascia per Big Shot, si rende conto che la musica è il suo unico e vero amore.

Biografia della regista
Adele Bertei inizia la sua carriera musicale a New York nel 1977 e fa parte della formazione iniziale dei The Contortions, prodotti da Brian Eno nell’album No New York.

Con i suoi lavori in prosa e poesia Adele Bertei si è esibita con William Burroughs, Allen Ginsberg e Kathy Acker e ha recitato in diversi film underground tra i quali Born In Flames di Lizzie Borden e in film di Scott & Beth B. e di Vivienne Dick.

E’ stata ritratta e fotografata da artisti come Kiki Smith, Richard Prince, Nan Goldin e David La Chappelle.

Come musicista si è esibita in tutto il mondo con le Bloods – una delle prime band americane di sole ragazze – e come cantante con i Tears for Fears. Come corista ha collaborato con Thomas Dolby, Culture Club, Whitney Houston, Sophie B. Hawkins e molti altri.

Da solista ha pubblicato album per le etichette Geffen e Chrysalis e hits dance e pop per Thomas Dolby (Hyperactive!) e Jellybean (Just a Mirage) producing. Ha inoltre scritto pezzi per Thomas Dolby, Sheena Easton, Arthur Baker, Jamaladeen Tacuma, Matthew Sweet, Lydia Lunch e le Pointer Sisters.

Le sue storie sono state pubblicate su NewYork Rocker eVibe Magazineed in raccolte come Semiotext(e) e Seal Press.

Nel 2017, Bertei si è esibita al Club SALO in Paris con Asia Argento e al Museum of Modern Art a NYC. Il MoMA ha recentemente acquistato i film dei reading di Adele Berte in The Offendersdi Scott e Beth B.

Adele organizza workshops di scrittura e musica per i giovani senzatetto al My Friend’s Place a Hollywood e per i carcerati al Twin Towers facility a Los Angeles come pure al  Century Women’s Regional Center at Lynwood, il carcere femminile più grande degli Stati Uniti. Ha fondato il collettivo WREN, Women’s Re-Entry Network per sostenere e facilitare il reinserimento delle donne uscite dal carcere. Adele lavora attualmente come sceneggiatrice, regista, performer e musicista a Los Angeles.

The Trampette’s drunken Mother suggests she pawn her trumpet to pay the rent or they will be evicted. On her way to the pawn shop, the Trampette hooks up with a street band, picks the pocket of a music business Big Shot and falls in love with a Waif. They are both penniless and homeless, so the Trampette disguises herself as the worst criminal in the land and goes on a crime spree. Her conscience gets the better of her.

When the Waif leaves her for the Big Shot, the Trampette realizes that music will always be her most true and faithful love.

Director Biography
Adele Bertei began her career in music in New York, 1977, as an original member of The Contortions, produced by Brian Eno on the No New Yorkalbum. Reading her prose and poetry she opened for writers such as William Burroughs, Allen Ginsberg and Kathy Acker and acted in several underground films: a lead role in Born In Flames by Lizzie Borden, films by Scott & Beth B., and by Vivienne Dick. She’s been the subject of artists and photographers Kiki Smith, Richard Prince, Nan Goldin and David La Chappelle. Adele has toured the world as a musician with her band the Bloods – one of America’s first all-girl bands – and as singer with Tears for Fears. She has performed as a backing vocalist for artists such as Thomas Dolby, Culture Club, Whitney Houston and Sophie B. Hawkins among others. She released records as a solo artist with both the Geffen and Chrysalis labels, and has had international dance and pop hits with Thomas Dolby (Hyperactive!) and Jellybean (Just a Mirage) producing. She has also written songs for artists as diverse as Thomas Dolby, Sheena Easton, Arthur Baker, Jamaladeen Tacuma, Matthew Sweet, Lydia Lunch and the Pointer Sisters.

Bertei’s stories have appeared in the now defunct NewYork Rockerand Vibe Magazine, and in compilations published by Semiotext(e) (edited by Eileen Myles) and Seal Press. In 2017, Bertei recently performed at Club SALO in Paris with Asia Argento, and at the Museum of Modern Art in NYC. MoMA has recently acquired films of her reciting her poetry and acting in The Offendersby Scott and Beth B.

Adele facilitated music and songwriting workshops for homeless youth at My Friend’s Place in Hollywood, and for the incarcerated at the Twin Towers facility in downtown LA as well as Century Women’s Regional Center at Lynwood, the largest women’s jail in the nation. She created a collective called WREN, Women’s Re-Entry Network to help alleviate the challenges of women being released from jails and prisons. Adele currently works as writer, director, performer and musician in Los Angeles, CA.
