Un abito estivo dorato taglia XX mentre un ghiacciolo gocciola lentamente per terra. RIOT NOT DIET crea un’utopia femminista che sfida le norme relative all’indice di massa corporea e a ciò che abitualmente attrae lo sguardo maschile.
Cinquemila anni di patriarcato hanno lasciato il segno – perché, nonostante si parli di emancipazione, i corpi femminili tendono anche oggi a conformarsi alle aspettative socialmente condivise ed a fluttuare tranquilli, silenziosi e senza occupare troppo spazio. In RIOT NOT DIET incontriamo donne grasse e queer che resistono. I loro corpi sfidano le norme di genere obsolete e rivendicano il loro spazio. Il piacere di mostrare i loro corpi abbondanti è una sfida alla logica neoliberale dello sfruttamento.
In un epoca il cui essere in forma è un imperativo, la pancia diventa un manifesto. Grasso femminismo queer!
Biografia della regista
Julia Fuhr Mann è nata in Germania nel 1987 e attualmente vive a Monaco. È una regista, curatrice e attivista queer-femminista. Dopo aver studiato filosofia, letteratura e sociologia, dal 2013 studia regia cinematografica presso l’UNIVERSITÀ DI TV E FILM MONACO DI BAVIERA.
Come membro di PRO QUOTE FILM si batte per la parità di genere nel mondo del cinema, è curatrice del festival del cinema femminista BIMOVIE e cura i video per SÜDDEUTSCHE ZEITUNG.
Attualmente lavorando al suo film di laurea – un saggio utopistico che ruota attorno all’abbattimento degli stereotipi di genere negli sport agonistici. Per il prossimo futuro, ha in programma di avviare una rete con altre registe queer-femministi, che porterà un cambiamento nell’industria cinematografica.

A golden summer dress in XXL, the ice lolly drips slowly onto the hot ground. RIOT NOT DIET creates a queer feminist utopia far away from BMI norms and male gaze.
Five thousand years of patriarchy have left their mark – for in spite of ongoing emancipation, female bodies are still geared to conform and to float through the world with a quiet, graceful and space-saving appearance. However, in this film we encounter fat women and queers who resist. With their expansive body dimensions they break the chains of outdated gender structures and claim space for themselves.
The pleasure of their own, overflowing corporeality is an alternative draft to the neoliberal logic of exploitation. In times of self-optimization, your belly is a statement! Queer fat feminism!
Director Biography
Julia Fuhr Mann was born 1987 in Germany and is currently living in Munich. She’s a filmmaker, curator and queer-feminist activist. After studying philosophy, literature and sociology, since 2013 studies in film directing at UNIVERSITY OF TV AND FILM MUNICH.
As a member of PRO QUOTE FILM she stands up for gender equality in film business, she is a curator for the feminist film festival BIMOVIE and works for the video editorial of SÜDDEUTSCHE ZEITUNG.
Currently she is developing her graduation film – an utopian essay film revolving around the dissolution of gender stereotypes in competitive sports. For the near future, she plans to start a network with other queer-feminist filmmakers, which will bring about a change in the film industry.
