Chado di Dominica Harrison

Durante una lunga e calda estate nella foresta, Child è costretta a crescere. Prima il suo cane si ammala, poi di punto in bianco sua madre torna nella loro dacia con un nuovo amante. Quando si rende conto che il mondo in cui viveva è profondamente cambiato, Child prende una decisione pericolosa.

Chado combina l’animazione digitale e la stampa Risograph per trasformare un racconto di formazione in un incantevole cortometraggio.

Biografia della regista
Dominica è nata e cresciuta a Mosca, in Russia, e ora vive e lavora a Londra, in Inghilterra. Nel 2016 si è laureata in Animation presso l’Edinburgh College of Art. Il suo film di diploma “Illusions” è stato realizzato interamente utilizzando una tecnica serigrafica e ha avuto successo in tutto il mondo in festival e mostre d’arte. Il film ha vinto l’Emergent Trigger Award al Locomotion Animation Festival, Best Animation – Feel The Reel Animation Festival, Shooting People’s Short Cuts December 2018 Round, il NEO Print Prize Award 2016 ed è stato selezionato per il RTS Scotland Student Award. Dopo la laurea Dominica ha lavorato come pittrice e animatrice nel lungometraggio di animazione “Loving Vincent”. Ha continuato a realizzare cortometraggi durante le residenze presso East London Printmakers, Blockchain Art Hackathon VR a Kiev, Video Mapping a Wallers-Arenberg, Monk Studios a Bangkok e per il progetto “Preschool Poets”. During a long hot summer in the forest, Child is forced to grow up. First her Dog becomes ill, then out of the blue her Mother returns to their dacha with a new lover. Child’s world is turned upside down. With each unsettling event, her visions become stronger to the point where she decides on a dangerous decision. Chado combines digital animation and Risograph printing to transform a coming of age tale into an enchanting short film.

Director Biography
Dominica was born and raised in Moscow, Russia and now lives and works in London, England. In 2016 she graduated with a First Class Hons BA Animation from the Edinburgh College of Art. Her graduation film ‘Illusions’ was made entirely using a screenprint technique and had worldwide success at festivals and art exhibitions. The film won the Emergent Trigger Award at Locomotion Animation Festival, Best Animation – Feel The Reel Animation Festival, Shooting People’s Short Cuts December 2018 Round, the NEO Print Prize Award 2016, and was shortlisted for the RTS Scotland Student Award. After graduation she worked as a painter and animator on feature animation ‘Loving Vincent’. She has continued to make short films during residencies at East London Printmakers, Blockchain Art Hackathon VR in Kiev, Video Mapping in Wallers-Arenberg, Monk Studios in Bangkok, and for the ‘Preschool Poets’ project. Her work has been selected for many key festivals including Edinburgh International Film Festival, Monstra in Lisbon, Ottawa International Animation Festival, and London International Animation Festival.
